Day 12: Prayer request

Yesterday I found out that a friend from church, Blaine, recently went into hospice (he has been battling brain cancer). Just today I got the information about where to go to visit him, so I went to see him earlier tonight. A couple other friends were also there to visit him when I arrived, and we took turns holding his hand. He firmly gripped my hand when I was holding his, and opened his eyes a few times as I spoke to him, although he was unable to speak himself.

I have been praying for him and his loved ones, and will continue to do so. They have been through so much, and it's hard to understand why things like this happen. My prayers are for comfort and healing, although I realize that God's healing may look different than what we may expect or hope for.

I don't know what else to say. I'm afraid anything else I say may come across as trite, so I'll finish with this request: please say a prayer for him and his loved ones.

Watch Thou, O Lord,
with those who wake,
or watch,
or
weep tonight,
and give Thine angels
charge over those who sleep.
Tend Thy sick ones, O Lord Christ.
Rest Thy weary ones.
Bless Thy dying ones.
Soothe Thy suffering ones.
Pity Thine afflicted ones.
Shield Thy joyous ones.
And all for Thy love's sake.
Amen
